When is it coming out?

Microsoft has only stated that the console is coming out in fall 2001. However if you look at past console launches they all tend to happen right around September or October (except the Sega Saturn - but that did fail miserably).

How much will it cost?

Microsoft has said that it will be "competitively priced." What does that mean? Well take a look at the current competition in the console gaming arena. PlayStation 2 at launch: . Dreamcast at launch: . PlayStation at launch was . Now take a wild guess what would be "competitive."

What will it look like?

Does Xbox have a chance against Sony's PlayStation2?

Yes, we believe it does (otherwise we wouldn't be doing The Official Xbox Magazine, now would we?). But if you aren't willing to believe us, just look at the numbers. The first number you need to look at is 500 million dollars - that's how much money Microsoft is planning to spend on marketing the machine. The other numbers to look at are the tech specs (click here), these show how much more powerful the Xbox is than anything else. The final figure you need to look at is the number of times that a console manufacturer has won two console generations in a row, and that number is 0.

However in the big scheme of things, none of this really matters. What does matter is that the Xbox is for real and it isn't going away. It's lined up an amazing list of support from the game development and publishing community, and it is going to be the home to some amazing games.
